Have done a lot of research on this but am stumped... purchased my X66 big block car a few years ago which did not have original motor and transmission... '80's 454 block with a 427 crank, a universal type scattershield, Mr. Gasket solid motor mounts, a '79 Borg Warner Super T10 and a solid trans mount. Subframe appears to be correct, but not quite sure how to verify.

It does have correct BB frame stands 3950113 and 3950114 and they looked as if they had never been removed. Noticed it had the small block transmission cross member. Since I'm replacing the manual steering box with a power unit, figured it would be a good idea to get the correct BB cross member to facilitate header fitment. Ordered it from Heartbeat City... nice heavy piece which measured out correctly. Also purchased a set of Energy Suspension motor mounts, part# 3.112G which fit perfectly Problem is, when I test fitted the block, scattershield and transmission, in order to cut a new shifter hole (transmission tunnel was patched), the BB cross member didn't come close to fitting, but the SB cross member lined up perfectly. Realize there's some wiggle room side to side if you leave all the bolts loose, but there's not enough to move the assemble 3/4" forward.

Any ideas what's going on here?... I've checked and double checked... the frame stands are correct and correctly installed on the subframe... taller stand, 3950113 on the driver's side and the motor mounts are correct... I even tried flipping the cross member, no luck.

Here are some pics of the 2 cross members and the frame stands... shiny cross member is, supposedly, the correct one for a big block with a 4 speed...

And just to clarify, when I state that the BB Cross Member doesn't come close to fitting, it's off 1/2" towards the passenger side and 3/4" too far forward... it's almost like the frame stands are wrong, but they're not. I'm really stumped here.
