In 1969, after my freshman year in college, I bought a 1967 RS/SS 350, Granada Gold, black vinyl top, 4 speed, black deluxe interior. Mt first car, paid $1850.
After less than 2 years I was parked and a drunk hit it from behind and drove it into a phone pole. Big mess. Traded it on a new 1970 VW for $2250!
Anyway, I've looked for a similar Camaro for a few years on and off but never found a Gold, black vinyl top, 4 speed RS/SS. Finally in early January I saw one on Autotrader, exactly as I had except a 396 instead of a 350. I emailed the owner, didn't hear back and finally called him. Car had been for sale for two years, but I had never come across it. Unfortunately that day it was loaded on a truck for the Russo and Steele auction in Scottsdale. The owner is a great guy, bought the car after restoration in 2002 at Barrett Jackson and had been garage kept since. Photos looked great. I wanted a car I could drive, on nice days in the Summer, not a museum piece and this looked perfect.
Signed up as a bidder and bought the car at 11:30 pm on a Friday night. My brother lives near Phoenix and had gone to look at the car and gave the thumbs up prior to my bid.
Now I am waiting for Reliable to deliver the car, should be the next week or so. Can't drive it anyway in the snow, but I can't wait to see it. Reunited after 49 years!
