Hey guys,

Does anyone have any suggestions on which brand mini starter to get? Are they all about the same or does anyone like one more than the others for some reason?
I'm sick of the old heavy starter from the parts store cause no matter what I do it still has a very loud sound to it while cranking like it needs to be shimmed. I shimmed it and it made it worse, so I figured i'd buy one of the mini high comp starters and hopefully just be done with it. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Napa has a very good gear reduction mini starter. Same as the "hot rod label" ones, but half the price.

Is this a pretty common starter guys are running that have issues with the original style one?

DHH which one did you get exactly? Is there any reason you chose that certain one?

Man that was years ago, and fortunately or unfortunately my reciept folder for the Camaro is an inch thick. :woot: It was the house brand high torque mini starter for a SBC. It came with some shims, and has never given me any grief at all. Even with plain steel headers and long cruises.

If you are not in love with your $$, I would jump for a Tilton Super .
